The parish Sisterhood hit another grand-slam yesterday, February 28, with its third sold-out Ladies Afternoon Tea. Twenty guests feasted on exquisite culinary delights in three courses: Savories, Scones, and Desserts, and enjoyed a presentation on "Angels" in the Temple. After the raffle and gift table monies were collected, the Sisterhood received $755 that will be put toward the Sisterhood's philanthropic activities.
As one attendee wrote:
"I'd like to thank Irene and ALL of the ladies of the Sisterhood for hosting this wonderful event!!! I heard many positive remarks from not only my guests but also from the other attendees. With the angels theme for February and beautiful music playing in the background, the guests were welcomed into a lovely room decorated with great attention to detail. The tables were set with delicate tea cups and plates; lace tablecloths; lovely pink rose centerpieces; scattered little hearts; floral napkins; Victorian-style menu cards and crocheted angel favors. Heart-shaped doilies adorned the window as an added visual surprise. The little gifts for those with the "lucky plate" was a cute bonus. From the first course to the last, the ladies of St John's proved that they are incredibly talented! The tea and sandwiches were delicious and the scones and desserts incredible! To the ladies who served, you were so warm and welcoming, my friends have been talking about it all day! The angels discussion with Father Jonathan was both interesting and tastefully done. Truly an afternoon that will not soon be forgotten. My friend Jean commented, "I felt very comfortable right from the start. Considering that I have never been to this church, I didn't know what to expect. I can't describe it other than to say that the ladies and Father Jonathan made me feel like I was visiting old friends. I can see this becoming a big thing for the Sisterhood through word of mouth..." She looks forward to returning to future events at St John. I hope I have not missed mentioning anything, I know a lot of effort went into this event and I am so happy I was able to attend."
